Notes
- There are some special rooms that don't have a game mode (or at least not by default):
- Map 801 - While this room is accessed like any other room, it has special rules.
- Tribe House - By default has no cheese and never ends, and is private for your tribe. Note that it can play maps and modules of your choosing by the use of the
/np
and/module
chat commands respectively. - Totem and Map Editor - Both of these are special, private rooms that are only used for editing user-specific content.

Vanilla is a game mode added in V0.117, 6 November 2010. Vanilla rooms only consist of official vanilla maps originally created exclusively by the administrators, but in 2016, a map making contest was hosted which added the winning maps to Vanilla. Vanilla maps play both in vanilla rooms and normal rooms.
Room
In vanilla rooms, you can only play the official maps. As of V0.147, user-created maps were removed from vanilla
Vanilla rooms are defined the same way as bootcamp rooms. As long as "vanilla' is in the title of the room it will behave as a vanilla room. It is possible to put any character in the /room name, as long as vanilla is part of the text string, for it to be a vanilla room.
Pressing the "Vanilla" option in the menu takes you to room vanilla1 or vanilla2, in a similar fashion like logging in. If too many players are in vanilla1 or 2, new rooms with name vanilla3 and following names (vanillaX) will be created and mice put into these.

Room Name | survivor |
Survivor is a game mode. Like the name implies, the objective of survivor is for the shaman to kill all the mice while the mice try to survive. Currently, new survivor maps are being accepted by the administrators.[confirm]
Survivor was originally a module run by
Holz before becoming an official game mode in V1.46, 21 June 2012.
Contents
[hide]Gameplay
The shaman will attempt to kill the mice using their creativity, brutality, and skills and items available to them while the mice try to survive until the round ends.
Maps
Only survivor maps are played in survivor rooms, and most maps do not include cheese, and none include a Mouse Hole.
Usually, the maps are designed to fit the survivor theme. This includes grounds mice can wall jump on, bouncy cloud blocks for cannonballs, high areas reached only by jumping on cannons, etc..
In some maps, the shaman might be isolated from other mice, preventing "hugging" (mice sticking close to shaman, so the shaman has to endanger himself to kill the mice) and ease the task to kill all mice.
Vampire survivor maps will be played every 10 shaman survivor maps.
If there are at least 20 mice in a survivor room, there is a chance for a shaman survivor map to have 2 shamans.
Survivor maps always start with 90 seconds timer, bonus time from Spiritual Guide skill tree won't give any effect, and time left will be set to 20s if all vampire/the shaman dies, and time left is more than 20 seconds.
Mice
The mice's objective is to survive the round until the timer ends. Avoid objects summoned by the shaman that may kill you, and don't stay too close to the shaman to avoid meeping (see below).
Wall Jumping is mostly required, the mice can also use the cannon summoned by the shaman to reach higher place, which will increase the chance of survival.
Shaman
The shaman of a round is chosen from the highest score in the scoreboard. The main objective of the shaman is killing all other mice.
The main weapon of the shaman is cannonballs. The cannons are moved to the top of the summoning list, for convenience. The shaman can still build normally, like in normal rooms.
The ice cube is still available in the shaman inventory, although it is unusable. Portals are available, which might be used together with cannonballs for tricking mice. Skills that allow faster summoning, such as Reflex and Master Summoner, have no effect in survivor rooms.
Divine mode is disabled in survivor rooms due to its extremely high range. However, Hard mode and totems are available.
Meeping
The shamans have a power called meep, which is used by pressing Space. Using meep will repel the mice surrounding you, and the closer the mice, the stronger the effect.
Meep was originally designed for dealing with "huggers" (people who stick too closely to the shaman).
Meep has a cooldown time of approximately 8 seconds, the cooldown bar is only visible to the one with the ability, located on top of the mouse.
Meep is often frowned upon by some of the player-base, since it can be considered overpowered and "noob".
Rules
The mice should stay alive as long as possible until the timer ends, the shaman should kill the mice. It is impossible to get cheese and return to the hole, since maps don't have any mouse hole. Score gaining is different from normal rooms, explained below.
Most player usually voteban (
/ban *username*
chat command) mice who "hug" the shaman, and shamans that use totems that spam objects such as cannonballs and anvils.Hugging
Hugging (not to be confused with the hug animation) is a technique used by some mice in order to survive. Mice stay extremely close to the shaman so that they cannot be cannoned without the shaman running the risk of killing themselves. Often, this can get you killed as well as the Shamans can still use the "meep" ability. This technique is frowned upon by many players and often results in vote-bans.
Totem Usage
Totems are commonly used in Survivor to make killing or blocking easier for Shamans. Blocking totems are used to put up a quick blockade. Blocking is used to prevent mice from being cannoned into hard to reach or higher areas of the map. The most often used totem is a cannon totem. It usually consists of multiple cannons used to kill a large number of mice at once. Cannon totems may also incorporate boxes to kill mice who are wall jumping. The totem isn't popular in the room and often results in insults being thrown at the shaman. If used effectively, cannon totems can kill most, if not all, the mice.
God Totems
Some totems or builds like the anvil god, cannon orbit (a set of 4 or 5 cannons connected to a ball by C or v nails, then the ball has a rotating world nail in the center of it.) or most other gods will usually result in a vote-ban.It can also lead into computer crashes or lagging.
Score
In survivor rooms, the highest score on the scoreboard will be the shaman, but the scoring system is different:
- Death: +1
- Alive until time ends: +10
Vampire Survivor
A few times, Vampire Survivor maps will occur. In these types of maps, a random player is turned into a vampire. You can easily see who's the vampire by their different skin and their red nametags. If a vampire is on a mouse for a few seconds, that mouse turns into a vampire and have the ability to infect other mice that have not been turned into a vampire. If all vampire dies and time left is more than 20 seconds, the time left will be set to 20 seconds. Often, there is cheese spread around the map. This is there to trick you -- touching it will make you slower and easier to be caught by the Vampires!
Rewards
Survivor has badges as its main rewards, and 20 experience points every time you kill all the mice as a shaman, or survive as a mouse.
If the shaman is dead, you get no rewards for surviving as a mouse.

[hide]Gameplay
Like the name implies, mice in the room race to be the quickest to finish the map. Only racing maps will be played in racing rooms, and mice must complete maps alone without the help of any shaman.
When you're the first one to enter the hole in racing rooms, your first stat increases like normal.
Unlike other game modes, racing rooms only have 1 minute time given instead of 2 minutes. Like normal, if there are less than three mice alive, the timer will automatically be set to 20 seconds if the timer is above 20 seconds.
Due to the fact there is no shaman, the players should be experienced before playing in racing rooms, since almost all racing maps require mouse techniques (wall jump, corner jump, turn-around, etc.).
Scoring
A racing game consists of 10 rounds, where mice compete to get highest score. The room then will announce the name of the mouse with highest score at the end of round 10: "<Player Name> wins the game!"
Score calculations are as follows:
- Death/Time-out: +0
- Bringing cheese into hole: +1
- First place: +3 Bonus
- Second place: +2 Bonus
- Third place: +1 Bonus
Rewards
Completing a map will increases the player's stats and shop cheese, and gives 20 experience points.

Room Name | music |
Music is a game mode. The objective of this mode is the same as the normal and vanilla game modes where you must bring the cheese to the hole, most of the time with the help of the shaman.
Gameplay
Music is similar to the normal game mode except players in that lobby can upload YouTube videos to a playlist and they play on the video screen decoration in the map. The music game mode plays its own unique maps made specifically for this game mode, similar to defilante's maps' similarity to racing maps.
Mechanics
When entering a room, in the top right corner there is a disc with a music note in front of it. Clicking it brings you to an interface that asks you to post your video in the text box.
Clicking Playlist shows all the videos suggested by others in that session. Using the
/skip
chat command allows you to vote for skipping the current video, and if 10[confirm] mice vote to skip the video, the video will skip.
All videos will either end when they are over or when five minutes has passed. If a video is longer than five minutes, it will end once five minutes has passed either way.
The video screen decoration has two sizes: small and large. These both display the video that is currently being played.
The video screen decoration is non-solid, so your player mouse cannot come into contact with it unless there is ground placed in its place in the map.
500 gathered cheese is required to submit a video, however it costs no cheese or fraises to submit a video.
If the player who submitted a video leaves the room it will stop playing.
Only one video submitted by one player can be in the playlist at a time. You can submit another video once it's done playing. You can't submit another video while your video is playing either.
Transformice:Bootcamp
“ Bootcamp rooms only play the hardest maps of the game. It is therefore intended for experienced players. ” Bootcamp Statistics Release Date 27 July 2012(V1.47) Room Name bootcamp Bootcamp is a game mode consisting of maps that that test the mice's skills of platforming techniques and is typically very difficult to complete. Bootcamp maps never have a shaman and involves extensive use of techniques such as wall jumping, turn-arounds, and corner jumping in order to pass various obstacles. For bootcamps to count towards the total, there must be enough mice in the room and if you joined the room after the map started the first win won't count.<ref>http://atelier801.com/topic?f=5&t=853229</ref> So if you're not good at doing multiple bootcamps in one round, it may be best to wait for the next round to start before giving it your all.Contents
[hide]Rules of Bootcamping
To officially play and complete a bootcamp map, mice must follow a certain set of rules.- The map must be completed without the aid of the shaman.
- Mice may not stand by corners or turn-arounds making it difficult for other mice to corner jump and do turn-arounds.
- Suicide must be committed if stuck in a position in which it is impossible to recover and complete the map.
- Swearing too intencely is not allowed it can cause drama and ruin the whole game.
Bootcamp Rooms
Any room with "bootcamp" in its name is a bootcamp room. Bootcamp rooms run for six minutes per round and play only approved bootcamp maps. The most interesting feature is that every 15 seconds, dead mice and mice that joined the room after the start of the round automatically respawn. This may cause respawn lag.History
Previous to the /bootcamp update, active bootcamping rooms relied on a bot moderator who automatically sets the room's map to a bootcamp map and recorded times. The system for bots was to take over the shaman position, keep the same map for a certain amount of rounds, during the end of which the bot would ask though moderation for mice to vote to continue to play this map, or to skip to the next one. Mice vote by whispering the bot either extend or skip. The bot was also able to be asked rules and help. Bots did not move or respond to any other requests. Bots included Bootmouse, Redobear, Testmodbot, Mapeditor, Xop, and others. There were 3 actively held bootcamp rooms, bootcamp1 through bootcamp3, bootcamp4 and bootcamp5 sometimes. Occasionally more rooms (bootcamp6) were created to accommodate numbers of mice.Problems
The primary issue with the bot system was that there was there could be nearly a 2-minute wait between each round, and considering the difficulty of the bootcamp maps, most mice died by the first corner jump. Most of the time bootcamping was spent cheering on the few surviving mice, who most often died eventually as well. Another issue was that once there was one mouse left on the map, the time was reduced to 20 seconds, often causing the last mouse to run out of time before reaching the hole.Bootcamping obstacles
Bootcamp maps require the three basic techniques of wall jumping (the act of climbing a wall) corner jumping (the act of gaining momentum by timing a jump on a corner, and air jumping, the act of jumping mid-air. Most bootcamp maps require excessive use of these techniques.Turn-around
Main page: Transformice:Turn-around
Trampoline wall jumping
Trampoline speed
Some maps rely on running into a trampoline wall in order to gain speed to reach the next obstacle. Because trampolines bounce mice back at inconsistent speeds, mice generally run back and forth, hitting it and immediately running away, until they find that it bounced them back at a sufficient speed.Ball jumps
A few bootcamp maps force mice to use anchored balls as trampolines to bounce to higher heights. These are generally done the same way as one would reach height on a trampoline: jumping at the height of your bounce.Bounce-to
Bootcamp maps are increasing forcing players to use the tiny bounce from falling in order to reach the height necessary. By falling, mice can create their own trampoline-like bounce, from which they must immediately jump off to reach the necessary platform. Mice may create their own bounce without a large fall by jumping and jumping again: the second jump will be slightly higher. In some maps, this is required.Corner jump
Main page: Transformice:Corner jump
Wall push
A wall-push is an advanced technique which gives you a tramplike boost when jumping off a wall, letting you travel greater distances. Wall-pushing is required for a few maps and many more shortcuts. To wall-push, you must change directions just before you touch the wall, then jump. If successful, you'll notice that you go much farther than before.Stat
Whenever you complete a bootcamp map in a bootcamp room, your bootcamp stat on your profile increases. The stat does not increase unless there are at least 4 mice in the room.As of an unknown update, in order to prevent room-hopping (the act of constantly switching rooms to find easy bootcamp maps), the first time you beat a bootcamp map in a bootcamp room doesn't count. It is recommended to stay in just one bootcamp room instead of room-hopping.Titles

Transformice:Defilante
“ Maps run at full speed, so be careful not to lose the rhythm! The winner must not only finish the map, but also collect the highest number of points. ” Defilante Statistics Release Date 19 February 2013(V1.68) Room Name defilante Defilante is a game mode. It is a racing game where mice use coins to gain an advantage and finish the map, competing with the "death line" that move from the beginning to the end of the map, and with other players as well. They then can collect the cheese at the end of the map and go into the hole to complete the map and receive additional points.Contents
[hide]Gameplay
Defilante consists of 10 rounds, with each round playing defilante map. Defilante maps have coins, which the mice can (and should) collect to finish the map. All defilante maps are very wide, and the camera will be locked to the player. There is a "death line" that keeps moving from the beginning of the map to the other side. If a player is too slow, the camera won't be focused at the mouse, but instead will keep moving forward, and if the mouse goes off-screen, it will die.Players are given 2 minutes to complete a map, the time left will be set to 20 seconds if there are only 2 alive mice left and time left is more than 20 seconds, or if the "death line" reaches the end of the map. Mice won't die by the "death line" if it is already at the other side of the map, unless it goes off-screen.Coins
There are four coins on the game. They are activated by touching them, and are only usable once.Scoring
To win a defilante game (set of 10 rounds), the player must be the one with the highest score in the scoreboard. There are two ways to get score points:- Touch the +1 coin, which will give one points.
- Brings the cheese to hole (complete the map), which will give four points.
The scoreboard update after every round. When bringing cheese to the hole, the "ranking" is sorted by most amount of points acquired in that round, instead of fastest time.Notes
- Like racing, the player with highest score will have wings beside their nickname.
- There is a +1 coin icon in the top left corner in defilante rooms.
- At some point, some of the Defilante-made maps were in rotation in normal rooms.
- Shamans can use the Spring and the Speed Boost coins from skills.
- During the Valentine's Day 2013 event, you had to collect heart coins to buy Valentine's Day accessories. This is also the first Defilante map and the only Defilante map to be the part of the event.
